NEW DARTMOOR PONY STALLION 12th December 2011

I've just added photos of the original clay of my next piece - a beautiful Dartmoor Pony Stallion called Moortown Countryman, to the gallery.

The bronze will be in my exhibition this spring, at Sladmore Contemporary.

More pieces coming soon, but in the meantime:

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

NEW BRONZES - DORMOUSE, etc. 12th December 2011

The last of the edition of my first Climbing Dormouse was sold a few months back, but people kept asking if any were left in the edition, so I sculpted version two, which is now in bronze - photos in the gallery.

The first cast of my Wild Boar will also be available from December 15th.

I have also uploaded some fantastic new photos of the Black Rhino into the gallery.
They were taken by professional photographer, Steve Russell.
Steve is superbly talented and a really nice guy; he has done all the photography of my new pieces for the last few years.

And I'm still hard at work on the last few pieces for my exhibition at Sladmore Contemporary next spring. - I'll be uploading photos of the latest piece, a Dartmoor Pony stallion, soon.

WILD BOAR & DOGS EXHIBITION 31st October 2011

I've just posted photos of the original clay of my latest sculpture - A Wild Boar, in the Gallery. The sculpture depicts a massive Black Forest boar in his prime, hackles raised.
This is a subject that I've loved and wanted to tackle since childhood, and at last I've done it! I'm really pleased with the finished clay and can't wait to see him in bronze. The bronze will be available next Spring [2012]

Also, my bronze of the Bloodhound, Trialfinder Fortitude and my life-size bronze Shih Tzu sculpture will be on show at:
Sladmore Gallery, 57 Jermyn Street, St James's, London, as part of their exhibition entitled, "The Dog Show", which runs from November 2nd to December 10th 2011.

NEW RED RUBY BULL & WILD BOAR 18th October 2011

I've just added photos of my sculpture of the phenomenal Red Ruby Devon bull, Yeomadon Ferdinand [Freddie to his friends]. With eleven interbreed championship titles, Freddie is a spectacular example of the breed. Absolutely massive, with a wonderfully gentle nature, he was a pleasure to sculpt.
The photos show the original clay. The bronze will be available early in the New Year.

I'm now working on a sculpture of a Wild Boar - one of my favourite animals and a subject that I have wanted to sculpt since childhood, but never have - until now! The sculpture is going well, so expect photos soon.

New Sculptures 6th July 2011

The Herdwick Ram and Shire Mare are now both in bronze [photos coming soon] whilst I have also added smaller versions of my very popular White Park Bull in both Bronze and Sterling Silver to the collection. I've added a photo of the small silver version to the Gallery.

Having finished a sculpture of an Old English Game Cock, I'm now working on a Devon & Cornwall Longwool Ram - expect photos of both clay originals soon.

RED DEER STAG - EXMOOR EMPEROR 30th March 2011

I've just finished my wax sculpture of the famous Red Deer Stag, "The Emperor of Exmoor".
Famed as the largest red deer stag in Britain; I don't think I ever saw him during his life, though living in Devon as I do, Exmoor is one of my local deer watching areas, so I may have.
I have intended to sculpt a red deer stag for some time - they are such magnificent animals - always a thrill to see!
The death of "The Emperor of Exmoor" in 2010 provided the final spur needed. I have sculpted him as he looked in his final year, when he was at his absolute physical peak, at the height of the rut, when stags develop their impressive bull necks.
Hopefully I have managed to capture just what a magnificent animal he truly was.
Photos in the gallery under "Coming Soon". The bronze will be available in Autumn of 2011.

Life-size Shih Tzu 22nd March 2011

I was recently commissioned to produce a life-size bronze of a much beloved Shih Tzu for a client.
They have kindly agreed to my producing a short edition for sale to the public. He was a delightful little chap and a joy to sculpt. You can see the finished result in either the "Animals" or "Domestic" pages of the gallery.

Alice the Middle White - In Bronze 25th February 2011

My sculpture of Alice [Lewin Dorothy 3] the Interbreed Champion pig from the last ever Royal Show is now in bronze and looks great - expect photos soon. In the meantime there are still photos of the wax on show in the gallery section.

Other news - My Red Deer stag is going well - what beautiful animals! I'll put photos of the finished wax into the gallery once he's done.

Well, that's all for now.

NEW PIECES - HORSE, SHEEP, etc. 4th February 2011

Belated Happy New Year to everyone!

I've added photos of a couple of new pieces in the 'Coming Soon' section of the gallery.
These are of a small wax study of an absolutely beautiful Shire Mare, that I saw at the Westmorland Show last September. She won best in show, and I have since found out that she has also been the Shire Horse Society's "Shire of the Year" at least twice.

I also saw a magnificent Herdwick Ram at the same show. Herdwicks are a particular favourite of mine; big, tough hill sheep, and Mr George Harryman's ram is a particularly impressive example of the breed, having won numerous breed and interbreed titles. I simply had to sculpt him! The photos show the original clay sculpture.

Both pieces should be available in bronze by June.

I will also be producing a small version of the White Park Bull, Ash Nik-Nak, in hallmarked sterling silver - available in June or July

Finally, as I write this, I am just about to start on my next subject - a Red Deer Stag. Can't wait!!

NEW PIECES 18th November 2010

The first cast of my latest piece, a bas relief head study of a young Middle White Sow, is now available. There is a photo in the gallery.
So as you may gather, I rather like Middle Whites, since I also have a full study of the champion Middle White, Lewin Dorothy 3, coming through the foundry at the moment. It will be in bronze this Spring..

I'm currently working on a small study of a champion Shire Mare, that I saw at the Westmorland Show this September, so expect photos of the finished wax in the "Coming Soon" section of the gallery in the near future.

There are also new photos of my Indian Rhino and Kingfisher in the Gallery.
